Cars in Germany's City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking political figure stated the attack made him stunned and required to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
