The filmmaker's daring satire examines the tyranny of feminine aesthetics along with the perceived horrors of advancing years. Presence Film
The acclaimed director tests his directorial skills through this innovative ghostly tale filmed completely from the viewpoint of a ghost. When a household featuring mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe moves into their fresh home, the filming device – representing the ghost – shadows their actions. The daughter appears conscious of the supernatural presence, and it looks like defensive toward her. But why? The premise is enjoyable that remains concise, including a revelation that could catch you off guard. Saturday 11 October, afternoon and evening times, Sky Cinema Premiere

The Black Phone
Scott Derrickson's locked-room horror stands strong even without a follow-up. Taking place in 1978 Denver, a series of child abductions has made the children on edge. When Finney gets captured by the villain and imprisoned in a basement, he anticipates the worst. But the old telephone on the wall continues to ring, with ghostly voices giving advice, as the prescient dreams of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. October 11th, 10.50pm, the Film4 channel
This Dramatic Portrait
In the conflict between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for greed in Michael Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top film adaptation about the fallen religious broadcaster and her felon spouse. The actor portrays the greedy Jim, who states early on, claiming divine approval for wealth. He and Tammy Faye set about profiting from the people's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, bad makeup and bad faith, however Jessica Chastain achieves to show the real-life figure in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, Film4
The Spy Mystery
The current week's additional entry by the same director presents a spy mystery as sharp as the polo necks used by Fassbender's intelligence officer. He is tasked with uncovering a traitor among the team from five suspects – including is his own wife. Both actors are experts of deadpan cool, so a delicious mental battle of truth or lie develops. Additional actors join in the clever spy entertainment. This Friday, various showings, Sky Cinema Premiere
